Scowl: Dera... irritates the hell out of Claude sometimes :( though not as much in recent days. He likes Scowl deep down! He knows he's fiercely loyal and protective of his team, and smart, and capable in his own way-- those are all qualities he can respect, and even his suspicious nature he can understand, given Hydra's pretty unlucky track record in the games. :/a And Rabi likes him, so he's trying his best to at least get along with him, too. And Dera's concern for him when he finally reached East Block was kinda touching. :< But Dera usually (or used to) treat him like he was useless or dumb, which is one of those things that Bothers Claude a lot, since the whole time he's been in Sabra he's been trying to be anything but that.

Instead of getting irked by it now, though, he's now doing his best to act more competent whenever he's interacting with Dera, because a part of him does want to earn some respect from the other guy. And to him, "acting more competent" means "taking a leaf from Rabi's book" in this case-- sharing information, discussing the deeper Sabra issues with him, and volunteering his help whenever he can, if Dera will take it.

Overall, despite all that grumpiness, if it came down to the question of "Claude are you friends with Scowl?" he would say "yes". :|b

Tavi: A good friend to count on in most any situation o/ Claude likes and respects him a lot, and finds himself inclined to consult his advice with any problems because he can count on getting an intelligent answer from a cool head. Not to mention a sturdy helping hand. In general he likes Tavi's company and wishes they could do more Games cooperatively with Pyxis, but since that's not the case he'll settle for joining in on Boy Antics with him and Red :|b

Jace: ...is kind of in awe of the guy for the sheer power he has at his fingertips. :/a He doesn't realize it himself, but if he dug deep enough he'd probably recognize the same envy he has towards Special People like Zack and Ed-- those who can do so much without even really trying. It's only a very small part in him-- consciously he thinks "well everyone's got things they can and can't do", but there's that potential for bitterness to creep in over time... Still, as a person, Jace is a decent guy who cares a lot about his team and doesn't hesitate to help others, and Claude's glad that Nora has someone on his team whom he respects and listens to... more than most people, at least.

Fang: He registers as someone who fits in pretty well with the rest of Team Hydra in terms of the fierce loyalty aspect they have going on. Even then he seems reasonable enough and okay with working with outsiders for mutual benefit. But this is all based on that one impression. Claude wouldn't mind talking to him a bit more.

Dusky: HERE WE GO I'd like to blame the length of this on the fact that I have never essayed on Claude and Dusky before

Okay here is a metaphor. Claude loves Dusky like a six-year-old boy loves the baby sister he has just met for the first time and then not long after his parents explain to him that she has a Problem inside and it makes him sad but then also even more determined to be the best big bro he can be for her sake. Since Rabi pointed out that they as a team were family from day 1, he immediately accepted that he would help her and protect her the best he could.

At first he assumed "she's like a child in an adult's body", but with his general awareness and knowledge coming back over time and games he's now aware it's more like a kind of mental handicap instead... or at least that's the best terms he can frame it in at this point. Because she does show an ability to learn and remember things and concepts if he explains them to her in simple enough terms, just... the analysis and interpretation tend to come out all weird. And she does seem to fixate on certain ideas.

So anyway, the point of that being he realizes she is strange in the head in a way that she is often likely to get herself into potentially dangerous situations without realizing it AT ALL, through no conscious effort of her own. That plus her general naivete and innocence etc etc inspires amazing levels of protectiveness, because not only is she Team/Family, he views her as The Dependent, and the fact that she trusts him so easily gives him that sense of responsibility and being needed which, really, is kinda Claude's central driving force :(a

We may all lol for a minute now over how his opinion of her as Dependent will have to drastically change later.

ANYWAY. At least, because he's aware she has the capacity to learn, he does try to talk to her as normally as possible and explain things she doesn't understand, because he figures one way to protect her is to get her to understand what, why and how things are; he accepts he can't watch her all the time, so it's better if she knows what to keep away from and what not to do at a basic level. And she is learning, which is good. Even if she still makes odd logical connections sometimes.

Of late-- or at least from that time she actually talked about her memory, anyway, plus the HORRIBLY DISTURBING INCIDENT that getting her latest memory was-- he's realizing that whatever or wherever she came from, it can't have been a happy place. It might have even been the reason why she's the way she is, but that much he can only speculate. This is a point of worry in his mind when it comes to the games now, since he's not sure how to help her if she gets a terrible memory again. It frustrated him a lot that all he could do was put her to bed after the last one and wait, and was relieving in a copout way that she didn't seem to remember anything when she woke up. Even though Rabi pointed out to him that it wouldn't be fair to keep her from getting memories and getting out of here, it's still a concern.

WHAT ELSE. He doesn't like worrying her any more than he likes worrying Rabi, but sometimes airing out his sadder thoughts to her is comforting in its own way, because her way of thinking is really simple. Or she'll just give him hugs. Which also works. And she knows if he tries to make Faces like Red, so he doesn't try to as much.

It does matter to him that it seems like Dusky cares a lot about him too. She is someone with whom being his honest self with will never receive a rebuff or teasing or anything of that sort, because she will always take whatever "Gold" says quite seriously, and may not come to the logical conclusion, but will be honest about it.

If she ever got pillared at this stage he would be DEVASTATED. Probably the only person who would get a worse reaction would be Rabi. Because he would've felt the failure on his part to do anything to help her.

IN CONCLUSION Claude loev Dusky v. much, but the relationship as he sees it is more in the sense of she is someone to watch over rather than equals, which is what his relationship with Red is like (as he sees it).

(( note: Claude and Rabi's different perspectives on Dusky may be largely influenced by the fact that Claude hasn't even considered the possibility that Dusky could be The Danger Itself :( ))
