SO2 Skill Mechanics Reference

Pre-SLT Claude would have maxed out all of them! While losing his memories has pretty much reduced most of them to about level 1-2, if not 0. :( He'll relearn them/improve them with time and practice and winning games and FIGHTING!11 or as plot dictates and whatnot. A lot of them are triggered randomly in combat and multiples can be used at once.
Also the remake seems to have removed some skills from the original so this is a mix of both. Creative liberties with descriptions apply.
Format:
SO2 original name/remake name - mishmashed description based on remake and original info and effects
* - denotes skills with chance element involved
Tier 1
* Spirit Force/Qigong - SHOUNEN WILLPOWER. Random level of defense boost on receiving damage.
* Below the Belt/Guardbreak - Ignore enemy defenses by fighting dirty.
* Strong Blow - A strong hit with added pushback.
Cancel - Press L1/R1 to immediately follow up normal attack with Killer Move!
Tier 2
* Flip/Backstab - NINJA TELEPORT. ...or acrobatics or however one gets behind the enemy for an attack.
* Gale/Godspeed - Increases combat running speed. why are the remake names so much more dramatic
* Feint - TRICKERY that increases accuracy of a followup attack.
* Mental Training/Power Burst - SHOUNEN WILLPOWER REDUX that increases attack power by 25%.
Tier 3
Counterattack - Press X while being hit to counter!
* Parry/Sidestep - Dodge-fu.
* Body Control - SHOUNEN WILLPOWER REDUX REDUX that prevents fainting/reduces stun time.
Provocation/Taunt - Completely useless, but makes you look more badass.
Non-Combat Skills
