Updated 27 Sept 2009.
MEMORY 1: Delicious steak (Trivial - Positive)
WHAT HE LEARNED
- His favourite food! ...and that a meal should generally have greens and carbs too.
- A clearer concept of what the interior of a (building?) room looks like.
MEMORY 2: Failing to summon Barney. (Trivial - Negative)
WHAT HE LEARNED
- ...a two-storey-high bunny is kind of cute and you can sit on it. When you can get one.
- A clearer concept of "outdoors"; clouds in the sky, open grass, woods not far away. Grass under his feet.
- A vague idea of 'companions' he was with.
- The way he was dressed - sword, bandanna, the jacket. He used to carry a sword. Hmm.
MEMORY 3: On the bridge of the Calnus in deep space. (Trivial - Neutral)
WHAT HE LEARNED
- Metal floor, metal railing being leaned on, looking out into a vast expanse of staaars. Undercurrent of activity going on all around him - electronic beeps, readouts, murmuring voices.
- A clearer concept of 'space'. INFINITY AND BEYOND. Cold and dark. Some idea of what's to be found out there.
- A vague idea of a ship in that space.
- A vague idea of onboard technology.
- Same clothes as in M2.
MEMORY 4: Turning his back on his only chance to go home in order to stay with his friends (and Rena). (Significant-Neutral)
WHAT HE LEARNED
- Ashton, Celine, Precis, Bowman, Leon, Rena. The last is the only one he names in the memory, and she spends the more time talking to him, so she sticks a little more in his recollection. His friendship with all of them was very very important to him, so important he was willing to pass up a chance to go home so he wouldn't abandon them to face a threat by themselves. "Welcome home," the girl says. Home is where his friends are.
- Leaving his father on board the ship from M3, breaking his promise to just say goodbye to his friends and come back. He has a father he cared a lot about.
- Having an important duty and a Boss Battle coming at the top of a tower. Going to face that big battle with with swords and armor.
- A vague idea of 'technology'. He had a 'device' that could take him back to the ship in Space somehow?
MEMORY 5: Ronixis entrusting him with his own Phase Gun on Milocinia. (Neutral-Positive)
WHAT HE LEARNED
- His name is Claude. Ensign Claude C. Kenni, Federation Service No. 1449-2356-8733-1292G.
- He was on a mission investigating something as a military officer.
- His father trusted him with a weapon-- Ronixis's own, in fact-- to protect himself and everyone there. He remembers feeling a rush of pride in this. He respected his father a lot and wanted his approval.
- More technology; guns that were very powerful weapons?
MEMORY 6: Walking together in the Shingo Forest, Rena thanks "Claude" for saving her. (Significant-Positive)
WHAT HE LEARNED
- This Rena had mistaken him as someone else: the "Hero of Light"? But she seemed really contrite over the mistake.
- ...she's really polite with him. And cute. And that smile will do funny things to his insides whenever he recalls it--- w-were she...and him... really? NOT CONFIRMED NOT CONFIRMED IT'S BAD TO JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS.
- ....but the actual important part! "You are the one who saved my life--- Claude is just Claude*." Emphasis on the words that seemed to really affect his memory-self. He was... touched? that she was connecting what he'd done to the person he was, rather than a person or a label he wasn't. SLT!Claude, lacking more context, isn't sure why that was so important. But it made him really happy to hear words like those from--- someone.
- [Update] In manga canon, he pinpoints that moment as the first time he truly felt he'd found the place he belonged to.
* in the remake's original Japanese scene she calls him "Claude-san", but "Mr. Claude" doesn't so parse as well in English :/a
MEMORY 7: Conversation with Dias on the Lacour front line: about the strength to protect oneself versus the strength to protect others. (Neutral-Positive)
WHAT HE LEARNED:
- they were waiting for the first wave of a monster attack on the continent (?) at dawn, and he and his friends were among the mass of adventurers lending their strength to Lacour
- Dias Flac, someone who was/is very important to Rena and vice-versa - an amazing fighter and swordsman who was leagues ahead of him - he respected the guy, and may even have been envious
- ...was entrusting Rena's safety to him?
- He didn't really get what he was talking about, all that about 'different strengths' :/a but if Dias had trusted him with this, then... maybe he really could do it, after all, despite being 'weaker'
MEMORY 8: A successful attempt at Blacksmithing with his friends - a long sword.(Trivial-Positive)
WHAT HE LEARNED:
- Skills: Customize, Super Specialties: Blacksmithing
- it's easier to make stuff when you work together /o/
