A lot more awesome than he thought it'd be! Initially he went with it more because of "Red and Syaoran would love it, and he's one of the better Judges, he's not asking much, and hey, books!" But he's appreciating more and more just what it means to have a Judge on the team's side-- actual protection, actual favors, and just this increasing sense of having a recourse to something beyond what can be done as a Blank.
Also, super loev librarianowl-- and trust, which is even bigger. Beyond being their patron, he's also someone who talks plainly (with relatively mild levels of Judge metaphortalk) when he can, tells them when he can't, and actually feels truly sincere in his motives and actions and speech. He's sort of aware that maybe the reason they get any help from him at all is because of the patroning contract, which is an exchange of services, but a lot of little things Librarian does just have that sense of going beyond what's necessary by contract. Like he didn't have to actively comfort Faith after she woke up from deathtimes, but he did, and despite his stiff demeanor he actually shows a genuine interest in and concern for them that doesn't feel like the kind of interest of bugs under a microscope to an observer (which is the vibe he gets off most Judges who do that). Neither does it feel like he's using them for some dark hidden agenda. Not that Claude's good at detecting that kind of thing anyway, but you know.
Less than a Patron to look up to, he's becoming more of a Trusted Friend to see eye to eye, and whatever inner reticence Claude might've had about Cepheus tying their lot even closer to the whims of a Judge, they're getting shoved out back. He honestly believes that whatever info he's getting in exchange for the mission is going to be as worth it as Librarian promises, and that he really will keep Mirror from penalizing their team until he's back. Because he is pretty much a judgebro.
What are the things you want to do with Jace before he Good Ends, be it a short or long way into the distant sparkling future?
