c-c-crosstalk drabble meme?
Modified from Dat Question Meme, LET'S DO THIS
It goes LIKE SO: comment here and give me a prompt (character(s) and a situation, whether canon, Sabra, post-Sabra, AUs or otherwise) and I'll drabble you at least 200 words on it. Quality not assured.
WHEN I REPLY I will also give you a prompt in turn!
In this way we write each other stuff, which is fun.
I AM GOING TO BED FOR A FEW HOURS but will begin when consciousness has returned
ETA: Disclaimer: am writing these sort of all at the same time, so posting them as they get completed :<a <

Still, he’d known in the back of his mind, from the day they left port (from the day he left them), the reality of how infinitesimal the chances of the latter were. One ship, moving from planet to planet, with trillions of them surrounding the billions of stars stretching to the very ends of the galaxy (and this only one of billions more in the universe, and that, perhaps, not even the only one of its kind); the odds were no better than if two grains of sand should try meeting in the ocean currents that spanned the Earth.
And yet---
“Captain?”
He shook his head and lifted it again, with a perfunctory scrub at the dampness already past his cheeks and seeping through the greying hairs below.
“You…” His voice cracked on the word. “It’s one hell of a coincidence, isn’t it?”
“There are no coincidences.” The man on the viewscreen smiled. “Only fate.”
